About

Welcome to Raising The Bar, the blog behind Boston’s premier indoor cycling studio, The Handle Bar. Raising The Bar provides you with our thoughts and insights on all things music, fitness, health, nutrition, and community from HB team members. Our posts all tie back to our mission: to challenge our riders to transform themselves both physically and mentally, all while embracing the journey together.

How it all started…

In June of 2013, The Handle Bar opened its doors in South Boston with the hopes of creating an oasis for both experienced cyclists and first-time riders where enjoyment and self-betterment would be as paramount as physical gains. With this goal in mind, we have created an addicting, music driven, full-body cycling class which our riders new and old have come to crave.

In April 2014, we opened doors to a second studio, located in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood. We have combined fitness, music, and fun to create a community that draws riders all the way from Southie to Brookline and beyond to sweat, inspire, transform, and Raise The Bar.

We have embraced the power of our blog from the get-go, hoping to reach riders not only in the saddle, but from behind their computer screens. Over the past year, Raising The Bar has transformed from the chronicles of owner, Jessica Bashelor’s journey to opening the studio to a tool that accompanies our riders on their journey of self-transformation.

Thanks for stopping by – See you in the saddle!

  1. Hey Jess – I am one of the founders of Boston Fitness Magazine and am reaching out to you today to introduce myself. I’m not sure if you have heard of our publication but I would like to talk to you about how we might be able to work together.

You can email me at doug@bostonfitmag.com

    Best,

    Doug

  2. Great mission. Anytime we can get people “vertical” (rather than sitting) and MOVING we are one step closer to helping someone improve the quality of their life.
